Job Title: EDM Technician
Reports To: Tool Supervisor

Position Summary:

Build skills needed to become a competent EDM Technician by working alongside our experienced and skilled team.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Safely operate and surface grinders, milling machines, CNC EDM Machines, and CNC Wire EDM Machines along with learning other machining equipment as desired in the Beacon MedTech Tool Room.
• Review/interpret drawings to machine a finished piece to meet print.
• Take precise measurements to verify if machined piece meets the print requirements.
• Navigate eDrawings software to view 3D models of assigned tasks.
• Plan and execute the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
• Maintain a safe and clean workstation
• Must be comfortable asking questions when unsure if completing the task in the most efficient way.
• Other duties as directed by supervisor pertaining to the Tool Room

 Education/Experience:

• Experience working with surface grinders, milling machines, etc.
• Working knowledge of safety protocols
• Apprenticeship, vocational training, or previous EDM experience preferred
• Knowledge of Tool Steels
• Knowledge of EDM process
• Knowledge of components of a mold

Qualifications: 

• Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
• Solid verbal communication skills
• Proficient in math
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to operate overhead crane whenever necessary

 Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and work instructions in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

 Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
